Do you ever have those days where you wake up 5 minutes before your alarm feeling totally refreshed? And you feel the sun peeking through the window? Days where your go-to button down shirt has just been dry cleaned, your hair is at least an 8 out of 10 and the cute coffee guy behind the counter winks at you when he hands you your cup? You get a seat on the subway, your iPod is fully charged and you get to work right on time without spilling?
Days where there is nothing pressing in your inbox, your phone doesn’t ring off the hook, you find $10 in your pants pocket so you buy yourself lunch and say yes to the cookie that comes with your meal? You don’t have to call IT, you’re meeting didn’t run late, you make it to your spinning class on time and you get the seat you like in the back?
Days where your spouse made you dinner and the house isn’t a mess? The cat doesn’t throw up a hairball, tomorrow isn’t garbage day and the dishwasher doesn’t suddenly stop mid-cycle? Days where your thermostat is just right, you’re at a really good part in your book and The Daily Show is particularly funny?
And the only thing you think about all day long, all God-damn day, is how much you want to crawl under the covers, and cry?
I have days like that. A lot.

…But when you crawl into your bed, you realize you just changed the sheets.
Love the article.
Sarit, my sweet Pollyanna, please don’t ever change! Your amazing optimism never ceases to inspire me. But, how do you know what sheets are on my bed??? I’m kinda freaked out…
Great article! Here’s a quote from one of my favourite movies that pretty much says it all… If you start out depressed everything’s kind of a pleasant surprise.
-Lloyd Dobler, Say Anything
Great quote and great movie! Thanks so much for reminding me.
How come the coffee guy didn’t say “good morning beautiful?
